The challenge of server virtualization is that it creates a layer of abstraction between the physical servers and virtual hosts. This increased complexity can very quickly become a management nightmare. APTARE StorageConsole improves the management and performance of VMware environments by providing detailed monitoring, alerting and reporting of ESX servers, virtual machines, and datastores.

It monitors and reports on key VM performance metrics: CPU, Memory, and storage usage. It also maps storage usage of the VM all the way to the LUN. Utilizing the chargeback reporting in APTARE StorageConsole Capacity Manager, administrators are able to create different storage tiers with multiple attributes (e.g. array type, drive type, drive speed, etc.) and assign a cost to each tier. Using logical grouping or "server groups" administrators can generate chargeback reports for any type of group for example: by department, by geography, by data center etc.
